The fact that several government agencies keep information on Jay County arrest warrants should tell you how important these judicial orders are. Unlike bench warrants and other legal instruments with a fixed validity period, an active warrant, once issued, will remain in effect until it is executed. Until such time records about the order have to be held somewhere.

Three agencies have been chosen to keep Jay’s arrest records and information on all county warrant issues. These include:

  • The County Clerk’s office: 120 N Court St # 2, Portland, Indiana 47371
  • The Police: 224 W Water St, Portland, Indiana 47371
  • The Magistrate’s court: 120 N Court St, Portland, IN 47371

While none of these agencies allow people to do an online warrant search, you can try and visit their sheriff’s website at http://www.jaycountysheriff.org/. They used to show a list of the most wanted criminals. On our recent check, we couldn’t find that list available on their site anymore. You can try and contact them to get more details. The judicial agencies mentioned above can also help you with civil records. For instance, the county clerk’s department has access to the court dockets maintained for criminal and civil tribunals.

So, you can get the dirt on just about any legal matter that the subject is involved in, including cases being heard by the family courts through this state agency. While there are several advantages of going through a government source of information, if you have an outstanding warrant from Jay County in your name, approaching a state agency will be the fastest way to get yourself arrested.

Fortunately, you can find the same information through a private vendor. Fill the form above, and you will be given access to a third-party database of records on arrest warrants.
